missed birthdays
Youth Suicide has turned into a crisis in the UK, with 6,929 young people taking their own life in the last decade. How do you get the whole country talking about it, and stop the number rising?
6,929 birthday balloons were installed inside Westfield Shopping Centre. They were bright and colourful on the surface. But each balloon had a darker message, and represented a child who had died by suicide, and a birthday they never reached.
Inside the installation, visitors could listen to hours of recordings left by bereaved family and friends, and read messages left on balloons.
The installation launched live on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ to almost 1.5 million people watching at home.
